Description:
Expression of Interest are invited for Agricultural Value Chain Assessment Consultant. IPEC (the Zimbabwean insurance regulator) and IFC have recently entered into a partnership for the development of the index insurance market in Zimbabwe. The scope of this partnership includes a market study to assess the current supply of index-based insurance products on the market, potential demand for such products across different geographical regions and agricultural value chains, constraints to the growth of the market, and the impact of existing policies and regulation on market potential. The findings of the market assessment will feed into the development of a framework/guidelines for the regulation of the index insurance space. IFC seeks to engage a short-term consultant to support the proposed market assessment by: 1) Identifying, mapping, and assessing priority agricultural value chains (VCs) to identify those that may benefit from the application of index insurance to protect farmers' livelihood and improve their resilience to climatic and other shocks. 2) Identifying VC players that may be interested in purchasing index insurance or distributing it to Zimbabwean farmers. 3) Supporting the assessment of potential demand for index insurance.
