• Expression of Interest are invited for Consultancy Services to Conduct an Effective Presentation Skills Training. 1. Introduction The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) seeks to engage an individual consultant to facilitate a Presentation Skills training to enhance vital aptitudes for effective communication skills when interacting with diverse audiences internally and externally. African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) was established in 1991 to build sustainable human and institutional capacity in support of Africa’s development. The Foundation’s goal is to improve the lives and prospects of people throughout the African continent. ACBF supports capacity development in Africa through grant making, knowledge sharing and technical assistance to countries and regional and sub-regional organizations. ACBF’s approach to capacity development focuses on addressing capacity needs and gaps as well as on stakeholder ownership of interventions, project and program sustainability and synergy of interventions with other development funding institutions. With 26 years of experience in Africa, the ACBF is transforming itself from a “go-to” place for grants into a “go-to” place for investments in integrated capacity development. The Foundation has therefore developed and is operationalizing a 5-year strategic plan (2017-2021) based on four strategic pillars and five service lines. The four strategic pillars read as follows: enabling effective delivery of continental development priorities, supporting countries to achieve tangible development results, enhancing private sector and civil society contributions to sustainable development, and leveraging knowledge and learning to increase development effectiveness. For ACBF to successfully deliver on its mandate, it requires that its messages are effectively delivered before different audiences. 2. Objectives of the Training The services of an individual consultant are required to support the Foundation to facilitate the training. Specifically, to achieve the following main objectives to enable ACBF staff members to; • To overcome fear of public speaking • Utilise verbal and non-verbal techniques to engage the audience • Support the message with appropriate visual aids • Connect with any audience and compel them into action • Exude greater confidence and poise in meetings, workshop and any other social situations. 3. Training Focus Area The training workshop must focus on the following areas: • Elements of a Presentation • First Impressions • Developing Spontaneity • Creating a stronger presence • Eye Contact and Facial Expressions • Making Presentations Funs • Using the Voice Effectively • Taking out the Trash • Techniques for Greater Impact • Managing Q & A Sessions • Presentation Practice 4. Scope of Work The scope of work for this assignment will include facilitating training for staff. Specifically, the training will entail the following: · Preparing training materials, program outlining all the activities to be undertaken and equipment and materials that would be required for the training. · Develop a training evaluation. · Delivering the 2 days training according to the plan. 5. Expected Deliverables · Prepare and submit training materials detailing out the chapters to be covered during the workshop. · Deliver the training as per agreed program · Submit hard and soft copy of the final report of the training including recommendations for further interventions. · Certification of participants 6. Request for Expression of Interest The African Capacity Building Foundation now invites eligible and qualified Individuals to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services giving a description of similar assignments undertaken. 7. Qualifications of Consultants ACBF is looking for an individual consultant meeting the following minimum requirements: · University Degree in Communication, Public relations, Marketing or related field · Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience undertaking Presentation Skills/Public Speaking training s for similar organizations. · Traceable references where similar assignments were carried out (to provide link or details of at least 2 (two) contactable referees. · Knowledge and experience of vocal coaching will be an added advantage. · Proficiency in English language 8. Selection of individual Consultant A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Selection Based on the Individual Consultants Qualifications method set out in the ACBF’s Procurement and Procedure Manual. 9. Submission Detailed CV (not more than 5 pages) with subject marked “Expression of Interest – “Consultancy Services to conduct Effective Presentation Skills Training”shouldbe submitted through email to ProcurementUnit@acbf-pact.org or as hard copies at the address below on or before 1600 hours local Harare time on 9 July, 2018.
