  • Expression of Interest are invited for Consultancy Services to Conduct Team Building Workshop. 1. Introduction: African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) was established in 1991 to build sustainable human and institutional capacity in support of Africa’s development. The Foundation’s goal is to improve the lives and prospects of people throughout the African continent. ACBF supports capacity development in Africa through grants making, knowledge sharing and technical assistance to countries and regional and sub-regional organizations. ACBF’s approach to capacity development focuses on addressing capacity needs and gaps as well as on stakeholder ownership of interventions, project and program sustainability and synergy of interventions with other development funding institutions. With 26 years of experience in Africa, the ACBF is transforming itself from a β€œgo-to” place for grants into a β€œgo-to” place for investments in integrated capacity development. The Foundation has therefore developed and is operationalizing a 5-year strategic plan (2017-2021) based on four strategic pillars and five service lines. The four strategic pillars read as follows: enabling effective delivery of continental development priorities, supporting countries to achieve tangible development results, enhancing private sector and civil society contributions to sustainable development, and leveraging knowledge and learning to increase development effectiveness. These four Strategic Pillars, built along with four corresponding programs, express the goals that the ACBF Strategy for 2017–2021 aims to achieve. The operational method for delivering these goals is through of five service lines: resource mobilization, advisory services, knowledge services, innovation services and investment and fund management. 2. Objectives A teambuilding workshop was held in 2015 over two days. The first day was designed to help participants get to know more about each other and the second day of the workshop provided an opportunity for staff to engage with the CREAM values and lend greater definition to the values themselves and the behaviours that are expected for the values to be lived within the organisation. The 2017 teambuilding workshop is meant to reinforce the living of the β€˜CREAM’ values in an effort to rally staff around a common goal with the CREAM values and maximize team performance to achieve the strategic results that matter most for the success of the Foundation. The main objectives of the workshop are as follows: i) To recap Living of the CREAM Values and create a Culture Change plan that promotes and sustains a value culture within the Foundation. ii) To get commitment and buy-in from everyone through Appreciative Inquiry and create collaborative teams. iii) To promote teamwork orientation within the Foundation. iv) To strengthen team spirit and staff morale v) To build a culture of trust and respect in the team vi) To create an innovative and creative culture within the Foundation 3. Scope of Work The scope of work for this training will include the following: a) Preparing the workshop background materials, teaching aids, and program outlining all the activities to be undertaken and evaluation forms. b) Developing workshop handouts and materials. c) Delivering the workshop and facilitating discussion on key issues related to building a collaborative and committed team, as well as mapping out a Culture Change plan. d) Indicate a list of equipment and materials required for the workshop. e) Prepare a Report of the workshop. Expected Deliverables i) Soft copy workshop handouts and background materials to be submitted at least one week before the training for distribution to staff. Consultant will provide hard copy materials that may not be distributed as soft copy on the day of the workshop. ii) Deliver the training as per program within five days from the workshop iii) Culture Change Plan for the Foundation within five days from the workshop iv) Hard and soft copy report of the workshop including recommendations for further training/interventions that may be required within five days from the day of the workshop 4. Qualifications and experience ACBF is looking for a consulting firm meeting with the following minimum requirements: Β· Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the following: - Delivering team building workshops, as well in undertaking Change Management, Coaching and other organizational development activities to similar organizations. -Traceable references where similar assignments were carried out (firm to provide link or details of at least 2 (two) recent related-trainings - Knowledge and experience with international development organizations will be considered an asset. In addition, the team to be assigned by the selected firm to this consultancywill consist of at least a lead expert and a supporting expert withminimum combined 10 years’ experience and skill set in the following: Β· Master’s degree in Social and or Behavioural Sciences, Management or a relevant discipline Β· A minimum of 5 years’ experience of delivering training on the subject matter Β· Experience in Appreciative Inquiry will be an added advantage. Β· Proven experience in facilitating Teambuilding workshops Β· Proficiency in English language 5. Reporting The Consultant will be reporting to the Director, Finance and Administration 6. Consultancy Duration The workshop will be over a period of 2 days and submission of report within five working days from the last day of the workshop. 7. Payment Modality ACBF will pay a lump sum after completion of the assignment. The payment will be made no later than 2 weeks after submission of invoice and payment request form by the consultant. 8. ACBF’s Input The Foundation will be responsible for the following: Β· Provide travel logistics for regionally / internationally recruited consultants Β· Provide accommodation for the period of the training Β· Print and distribute training handouts and materials. Β· Facilitate logistical arrangements for the workshop, including providing equipment and any additional materials that may be required. 9. Intellectual property ACBF shall, solely and exclusively, own all rights in and to any work created in connection with the present consultancy. The consultant shall not be allowed to post or publish (electronically or in print) any information relating to this assignment without the explicit authorization of ACBF.
