Description:
Consulting services for development of a NationalWater Resources Master plan.Reference No. ZINWA/C003The Government of Zimbabwe (GOZ) has receivedfinancing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Zimbabwe National Water Project (ZNWP). The project componentsinclude:(i) Investments in water and sanitation infrastructure and expansion of sevengrowth centers (Guruve, Gutu, Madziwa, Mataga, Nembudziya, Lupane and Zimunya) (ii) Capacity building of water sector Institutions (ZINWA, Ministry ofEnvironment Water and Climate, Ministry of Local Government, Public Works and National Housing, Ministry of Agriculture,Mechanization and Irrigation Development, and Ministry of Rural Development Promotion andPreservation of National Culture and Heritage, in order to improve servicedelivery.(iii) Project Management(supervision and management costs). The GOZ intends to apply part of the funding towards consultingservices in developmentof a National Water Resources Master Plan (master plan) for the period 2020?2040. The consulting services("the Services") include the following key areas: a full understanding of the quantity, quality and spatial distribution of thewaterresources available in Zimbabwe (surface water and groundwater);a characterization of the different uses (consumptive andnon-consumptive)and users (energy, domestic, recreational, environment, irrigation, industry, mining, etc.) and anassessment of the varyingdemands (across catchments, national, sub-national and transboundary); assessment of the resilienceof the water resources to climaticvariability and indicative adaptation and mitigation measures to climate change. The master plan seeks to assess the gap between supply and demand and update previoussupply assumptions using the latest climate change modeling data.
